All of our Turquoise jewellery is handcrafted in our Ashbourne workshops set in the beautiful countryside of Derbyshire. We’re extremely proud that all of our fine jewellery is made right here in the UK by our expert craftsmen and women. Keeping the British manufacturing industry alive means a lot to us and is the perfect way for high standards to be maintained.
Our Workshop
Set in the picturesque town of Ashbourne, our workshops produce exquisite fine jewellery set with beautiful gemstones. Trained to work with stones such as Whitby Jet, Baltic Amber, Derbyshire Blue John and of course, Arizona Turquoise, our jewellery specialists are extremely talented and pay close attention to the smallest details.
Turquoise regularly sits on our workshop bench but not for long. We work hard to keep producing stunning designs that reach our high standards every time. Handcrafted in-house, we are able to keep a close eye on every piece that is completed in the workshop. Nothing leaves without a thorough check.
Working With Turquoise
Turquoise is relatively soft to work with. Our jewellery specialists understand the gemstone really well and are able to handcarve the captivating gemstone into unique shapes. As you’ve probably seen from our beautiful collection, we create timeless classics as well as complex designs, which take gentle, experienced hands.
Every piece of Turquoise that arrives at the workshop is unique. No two fragments are the same due to the matrix pattern and shade. However, our designers and jewellery specialists work together to ensure that the piece is used in the best possible way. The finished product is always of high quality and in keeping with our signature style.
Four Decades of Experience
With over forty years of experience, our workshop is full of highly trained jewellers who have stayed loyal to us for a long time. Those who are new to the team receive all the training they need and are able to learn from those who have worked at the bench for longer. Equipped with the latest technology, our workshop team are able to create with impressive machinery and tools. We use laser welders, computer controlled milling machines and computer aided design programs alongside traditional bench skills and basic tools that still have a place in a modern workshop.
It’s important to us that these more traditional techniques are kept alive within today’s workshops. Therefore, by teaching these impressive skills to new craftsmen and women guarantees that they won’t be completely replaced by contemporary technology but work together. Modern cutting, grinding and polishing wheels make the cutting and shaping of gems much quicker. Therefore, it makes sense for us to use the machines but by honouring historic methods where appropriate ensures that tradition will always have a place.
Excellent Working Conditions
Creating a safe place to work is very important to us. Every member of the workshop team is trained on how to confidently work all of the tools and machinery that they are expected to use. Workshops can be a dangerous place if the people within them do not know how to work the machinery correctly. Therefore, we work hard to ensure that everyone is an expert within their craft to guarantee safety. The workshop is a friendly place to work following all the health and safety guidelines.
